FAMILIAR

Familiar
Written & Directed by Richard Powell
2012, Canada

A family patriarch’s dark interior monologue takes a very grim turn in auteur Powell’s Familiar.

This excellent horror short film accomplishes two impressive things:

One: the film makes creative, quality use of voice-over-which is nearly impossible.

Two: Familiar delivers on the promise of its particular type of body horror much more effectively in its brief running time than French screenwriter/director Alain Robak could in his entire feature-length horror film Baby Blood.

Powell and his Fatal Pictures team also made the memorable and accomplished horror shorts Consumption, Worm, Heir and Hang Up!.
